Do companies that generate profits make economic value added?

This paper focuses on determining the differences between economic value added (EVA), net operating profit after tax (NOPAT), earnings before interest and taxes (EBITDA), income or loss for non-financial business entities in Republic of Croatia period 2002–2021. The main objective this is to determine whether activities create added, rank them according selected indicators based EVA. Research results indicate that there were only 27 out 309 cases where EVA was positive, indicating information communication sector generated, average, positive during twenty-year period. Positive generated certain years companies conducting human health social work activities, education, mining, quarrying, as well wholesale retail trade but average these sectors negative. At same time, achieved 246 cases, NOPAT 285. Meanwhile, EBITDA all demonstrating an obvious discrepancy other financial performance measures. Correlation analysis a statistically significant moderate correlation income/loss, although generally stronger EBITDA-based indicators. According research results, answer question title negative, emphasizing possibilities intensive introduction indicator.
